A proposal to build a Chinese cultural website

Dear Sir / Madam,

I hope this email finds you well, and I am sorry for the email reaches you in this manner.

I am a business consultant as well as a voluminous Chinese writer and becoming a Canadian in 2004 (Please refer to my CV below as well as my blog: http://blog.sina.com.cn/chinesecanadian, My new website for English viewer: http://blog.sina.com.cn/u/2405850352).

Chinese people is studious and with a curious vision towards the world so they want to learn in a way that is accessible to them, and Internet is the best way that is available to the ordinary Chinese populations both in the city and in the urban area.

As you know, the number of website visitors means the income from the advertisers, paid accesses etc…, and China has an Internet population of hundreds of millions so I would dare to suggest those who have an interest to utilize my expertise to build a popular website in China.

There are many ways to make a website popular in China: the contents, the promotion methods, and the visual design, just to name a few. There are many ways to make it a success too. To utilize the local expertise is one of the keys.

This is an investment with little money involved, but a length of time maybe the most of the concerns. However, no pains, no gains, I would be willing to contribute to the development of this business and trust me we will succeed; and there is no question about it from my point of view.

Another rather important point I want to make is that for the publication business, it is the easiest way to get the foot into the Chinese closed publishing doors because you need to go through a lot of applications for a rather stringent censorship from the Party and the Government, for the websites, there is little control over the approval procedures, however, we still need to be very careful about the contents (think about Google China who eventually moved out from the P.R.C and set up a base in Hong Kong only)

I therefore send you this email and with my humblest expectations and greatest gratitude.

Kind Regards,
Oliver

Poem: A river of anxious heart --- an ensemble by Oliver (original in Chinese)

The Middle Autumn Festival, Lingbo sent me a four line poem
so I wrote an ensemble back. Oliver

One night silver of ancient white
A million yearning mind by-and-by
Slow Middle Autumn with always the wine
An endless river of anxious heart

The poem from Lingbo:

Over the pavilions, the ancient silver shine
The drizzle lowers the dust to a net right
Together with thee, the Chrysanthemum wine
One night wind of autumn blows hair white

Meeting with Editor in Chief ---September 14th, 2011

It was very nice of you having me today, the opportunity of the meeting was very important for my future career as a business writer / consultant.

As stated in my previous email, I have worked as an independent business consultant since 2004, and I am still holding a position as the China CEO for WTC Industrial in Sweden (www.wtcindustries.com) but the business is very slow for this company now.

Therefore, I believe I'd better to pick up my writing skill both in Chinese and English (I am a published writer / poet, and I just finish one 200,000 words novel in about two months, please see my blog: http://blog.sina.com.cn/u/1570637465) so I believe I can do a good job either as a freelance correspondent or as an section editor under your good leadership, I believe I can learn a great deal and contribute more to the growth of JEC both in China and the rest of the world.

I think business development is a very tough job especial in China where a lot of corruptible actions in place and I have been doing this work for the past years as an independent consultant, I wouldn't see all of my work are not successful but the success rate is low.

Actually, business development is about the networking, which not only need a personal fascination but also the support of the business that you are promoting and the later is more important. Therefore, I cannot agree more on your introduction of the plan to set up a Chinese online system and a successful content of the online magazine is crucial to the success of the business promotion and the fund raising.

As a pioneer business writer, a well known Chinese poet, I possess the vision and inspiration of the daily events including the business events, the science events, the technology events, and I am a trained economist, writer, poet, and business specialist. I have the perception and the acuity as a correspondent.

And I can work overtime; I can write around 5000 words per day or even more if there is a need. I can travel, and I am a good speaker, lecturer, have trained thousands of managers, and tutored many thesis for the college students at college level, as well as a ghost writer for some of the published papers for some famous organizations in China.

My personal life is a success. I have a beautiful professional wife with two wonderful children (see the attached photo), am loyal to each other, and work hard to upgrade our family life and our children's personality, knowledge, education and the social responsibilities.

Again, it is a very good opportunity as JEC is an established media with an expansion need especially in the Chinese market for which I am an expert. I can write well in both Chinese and English with fairly fast speed and quality. I have the working experience in the industry and the technical writing is also strength for me.

I am very much appreciated your attention to my first email and the communication and the meeting yesterday. I would think you will have a very qualified worker in the field which at your disposal and trust me, I will be working hard to meet your expectation and beyond.

As you know, China is a country with fastest growth rate in the world. In the past 30 years, the Chinese manufactures of all kinds have been experiencing a booming thanks to the export policy and the economic reform of the nation. However, recently, this trend is experiencing a difficult time due to the worldwide recession led by the financial crisis originated from the USA.

China now changes its policy to encourage the domestic consumption demand to gear up the national growth again. The industries has turn to the housing, building, renovation, luxury, automobile, food, drink, pharmaceuticals, health care, medical care, culture, travel, education.

As always, China needs not only the domestic tradition, but also the world experience especially the experience and solutions from the most developed world; the West countries, the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, and other western European countries, as well as the experience of Japan.

China is definitely a market not to be ignored by your good company, and I believe you know that a detail, practical, down-to-earth study of this market is required especially for your own special field.

I can help you to enter into this rather sophisticate market by providing you with such complete study for which I have done for many years and assisted companies to increase their sales and distributions in China . The total sales generated from the companies that I have served have exceeded tens of millions dollars in China.

I have educated and worked in China and Canada. I have systematic knowledge of logistics, accounting, finance, investment, and marketing. I have experience in engineering projects for a broad range of industries. I have strong analytical and quantitative skills. I have excellent organization, negotiation, verbal and written presentation skills, and extensive IT skills.

Recently, I have worked as an independent business consultant for Kam controls, Willburt Company, United Rotary Brushes, Top Technology, have contributed the business start up in China, marketing effort in USA, Asia, and Europe. My successful customers include Oil industry, Military, mobile communication, electronics, civil, construction, Chemical.

I am dedicated to market research and management consulting.

I am specializes in market research and consulting service for enterprise marketing. I have provided special market research services like competitive information, competitive strategy, product testing, brand construction, satisfaction research, mystery customer, store monitoring, and advertisement effect evaluation in more than 20 industries, including IT, communication, home appliance, automobile, real estate, pharmaceutical, energy, chemical, finance, and manufacturing, etc.

I have provided management consulting services for 50 enterprises. The industries served include real estate, power, chemical, steel & iron, furniture, food, mechanical, finance, engineering, garment, tourism, agriculture, electronics, and logistics, etc. The areas served include management consulting on enterprise strategy and its implementation and consulting on marketing management, business process, human resources management, SMB development, and investment, etc. These experiences provide me with extraordinary capacity on management consulting. With the accumulation of consulting results, we are capable of providing enterprises with comprehensive management solutions on a large scale.

To create the broadest international vision together with the companies with a farthest plan for globalization and international development. To promote the "management transformation" of enterprises, to upgrade their management capacity, and to work together with our customers for creating first class enterprises. To provide you with sound foundation for decision-making and management consulting for planning your business in a long term through market research.

I would devote the rest of my life to promote the Western Culture in the Chinese Society and the exchange of ideas of two cultures because I believe it will benefit the progress, improvement, and betterment both of the Chinese and western people. And I want to emphasize that the western culture has been overlooked very long for the Chinese people in mainland China every since the Marxism monopoly the country and all other idea and culture were isolated for over 63 years after the "liberation" in 1949.

Plus, I am a Canadian Chinese so that I do not need a visa to go to Canada or USA, or European countries to work there.

Therefore, I am submitting my resume to you for your consideration. I believe I would be a good match with your company and that I would be able to live up to your expectations. I am excited by the prospect of an opportunity to contribute my years of knowledge, skills, and experience to the success of your business and I sincerely hope you look upon my application favorably.

I strongly believe what they said in their website:
"If you leave this subject for another day, when you have time for it, then most likely you will never get around to it until it is too late.
Too late, is when you realize that you should of done this a long time ago. Too late, is when you realize that your competition has overtaken you.
Too late, is when your business stops growing and you start to thinking of letting people go. There is no need to let things go that way. "

Merit and wisdom are integral to each other
What is merit?
Merit is giving a cloth when it is cold, giving some food when it is hungry. Happiness is not far away, it is from your good thought inside our heart which transformed to the big love assisting people. However, except spreading the blessing and merit, a study of wisdom is necessary. Only so we will build a happy life because like two wings of a bird, merit and wisdom are integral to each other. When we have these pair of wings, we will have the liberty of flying over the happy sky. To turn the good though into action, to become a merit accomplished wise human.

Life will become more beautiful as you smile when ushering the agony of all kinds
In life, happiness brings us delights, agony brings us memory. The true happiness is hard to remember, but the agony is memorable. As agony is inevitable and irresistible, why don't we keep smiling when the agony comes? Time is flying, every moment is a goodbye to the past, learnt to accept, learnt to endure, learn to treasure, to build a life more beautiful. A peaceful mentality wins after all!

Go to USA for elderly care?
When I visit a friend's father in a elderly care center in China and find that he is bidding farewell to everybody in the center. He has a son in the states and wants him to go there to spend his rest of years in the United States of America. He said that you have the high pension from the government as a retired government officer with everything free of charge from medical to fitness to transportation but he is still afraid to get cancer due to the food safety issue is a very serious problem in China. One of his colleagues died of cancer soon after helped his son decorating the new apartment. Another died from cancer too because she used three months of local nutrition pill. It is awful to live like this with fear of the daily intake of the ordinary food. At least to live in the United States, he doesn't need to be afraid of such ordinary things such as daily meal.

His son has a two garage house so no worries if in the emergency the ambulance could access to the house as it did once when a old cadre had a heart attack and ambulance couldn't get in because the road in the neighborhood was full of parked cars. Fortunately, the driver was kind enough to carry the patient on the back and walk a quite distance to the ambulance which was very dangerous. Even you have a car, there is no road!

Speaking about the food, one of the woman retirees said, it is better go to the states because of the price reason alone. The price kept increasing on a daily basis in China, people couldn't live on the little pension alone, especially the medical care, it is even higher than that of America. And there is more sympathy than it is here. They start to charge for 8000 per month for the elderly now. We can only afford one person with the little two incomes. And the service is bad too, the people has no manners towards the elderly. His son just doesn't trust the service here. The food become cold after the card pushed from one room to another, and the cleaning is also a problem too, they only clean it once a day, but when people get old, they don't have control when to defecate, if they defecate after the daily cleaning, then they will wait until next time tomorrow with the shit on the bed!

Monotonous diet is another serious problem. Actually elderly needs personalized diet, when the food becomes a routine, people wouldn't like to eat. Children have to come to take the elderly to the hospital which is not the responsibility of the elderly center. The food safety, the environment, the social security are the things that is required for the elderly. Today, there is no trust.
Constructions are everywhere. There is no place to go for the elderly so everyone would love to go to the USA for the remaining years of their earthly time. USA is still a dream for many of the Chinese elderly.

The cost to maintain a elderly center has increased but the funds are remain the same. Only increase is the bonus to the workers here to keep them working, no extra money spends on the upgrade of the facilities, health care, food, medical. So the center has to create some revenue venue such as elderly school. In a few years, China is entering an aging society; the problem would become more serious.

It is very nice that many of the city parks are free of charge so that the elderly has a place to spend their time, but along with the development, parks have become more commercialized, the renting property such as parking entered into the park area makes it a dangerous place for the elderly which force the elderly back to home to take care of the grand children, or take a short tour as the bus fare is free to the elderly too.

However, is this ultimate life of our elderly? The society in China has become impetuous, younger generations start to fight in the life, even the youngest group of people all the pre-kindergartens, preschool courses aiming at the young parents' pockets force those parents go out for more money and leave not time for the soul communication with their children, and the elderly, their previous parents. China leaves the elderly in a lonely status; they are so lonely, that they are easy to be affectionate, even affectionate to the swindlers; so many elderly lost their savings to those criminals, we see some many cases and the helpless eyes of the elderly.

Therefore, a solution would be go to the USA if it is something you can afford.

China First Carbon Fiber Electric Vehicle appears in Jiading, Shanghai.

Recently, in the first Jiading Technology fair, people were attracted by the first carbon fiber electric vehicle in this country.

At the opening ceremony, the leader from Jiading District introduced that the 9 high tech program confirmed by Shanghai municipal government within the 7 new strategic industries, Jiading undertook projects in new energy automobile, the Internet of things, new energy, new material, and basic software industry and IT industries with a focus on the development of high end medical equipment area. During the twelfth five-year plan, Jiading will set up a 2 billion research and development fund to push the progress of the strategic new industries in the area.

The stunning debut of a black small cute

As an automobile, a length of 3 meter and a height of 160 centimeter should not be considered a big vehicle, and only 2 meter wheelbase leaves not much internal room for comfort.

However, this is the first carbon fiber electric vehicle in China which is sufficient to strike people's eyeballs. Unique black carbon fiber grain with a stern look, and the design of head lights looks like the carton figure, the Transformer with edges and corners are clearly demarcated which makes this small car a vigorous warrior over the big sillies of the traditional steel vehicles.

It is small and only have one door on each sides, the driver seat ad the seat beside is not narrow but the back seats are absolutely small which were designed specifically for children. According to the designer, Professor Wang Lirong, the Research Center of Automobile Electronics of the Chinese Science Academy Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, the target consumers are the young parents with one or two children. Such small new energy home vehicle is a hot sale in Europe because its advantages include energy saving, environment friendliness, easy for parking, and also meet the travel necessity for an ordinary family.

The body is light but with stronger Anti-collision performance

According to Professor Wang, the auto body of Carbon Fiber Electric Vehicle use large amount of Carbon Fiber greatly reduced the weight while remain the performance as good as the steel structured auto body. Furthermore, the 1100 kg the rare earth magnesium alloy wheels is also only 29 % in weight as its Aluminum counterparts, and it increases 15 times the Damping coefficient with a good decompression performance. "The electric driving system, gear box, and battery are also in a reasonable layout with a speed of 100 km/h."

The steel body in the traditional automobile would have elastic deformation when dash against another hard object so an airbag is needed for the safety of the passengers, while the carbon fiber automobile has a special feature that is the auto body will smash into small pieces when dash against other hard object, the fragmentation process absorbs a lot of energy which serves the safety protection purpose. The research and development the carbon fiber electric vehicle is truly a comprehensive reform in the automobile industry, when the auto body reduce its weight, there is less need for the battery space which in turn enable to load more.

The cost is an issue for the mass production of the product.

The energy technology and the carbon fiber technology make the cost very high so we have not put this into mass production. Professor Wang said that the JIading Yucheng center made agreement with them to establish a production base hoping with the resource and technology this new energy automobile will soon be in the market.

New Trend in the Shanghai new industrial work force

--- --- Service worker and contract worker from the rural area becomes the main parts of the new industrial worker
Shanghai is in crucial time of its transformation of the industries which as all transformation requires the support of the human resource.

There are two routes for the transformation. One is from the traditional industries to the modern service industry, the transformation from the primary, secondary industries to tertiary industry. Another transformation is the upgrading of the traditional industries to adapt the modern new industries, new technology.

The corresponding human resource service needs also two kinds of transformation. One is directly train the workers needed in the tertiary industry, the modern service industry. Another is to retrain the existing workers to adapt the new industry. And the second mode has more realistic importance.

The prerequisite and key of the industrial transformation is the transformation of the work force. An excellent industrial leader and the outstanding technical worker are the essential talents needed for the upgrading of the traditional industries.

What is the current situation of the industrial workers? What kind transformation they are experiencing? What would be the difficulties? How to solve the problems?

The story of Li Ben

Li Ben is a machinist for Shanghai Electrical Hydraulic Pneumatic Co. Ltd. He started his work in 1980 and continuously works at this position with numerous honors from Shanghai municipality, and national worker's congress.

The secret of Li Ben's success lays on the trainings, and self trainings over the past thirty plus years. Right from the beginning he shows extraordinary diligence and studious attitude. In machining, the tool sharpening is the basic skill so he concentrates on the tooling skill, learn from the qualified workers, and practice with a whole lot of the scrapped tools.

Li Ben sharp the tools with the grinding wheel. His hands frayed and bleeding, he just use a tape wrap the wound and continue with his practice. He mastered all the machining skills in only one year then grasp other mechanic, installation, maintenance technologies.

During the work, Li Ben felt the limitation of the traditional mode of the machining. He felt with his limited knowledge and skills he couldn't change this mode so started to self learn the high school courses and obtain an admission from the mechanic department of Shanghai TV University and graduated three years later with Excellency. It was then the second revolution of the digital controlled machinery started in the Europe and America. Li Ben used his spare time go to Shanghai Jiaotong University to take the digital courses.

Because of his excellent performance and training, he was selected to go to Germany for a technical training during which he collected four books data of digital machinery, and soon he mastered all the process, procedure, and the steps. Once the head of German machine shop come with a complicated parts design for immediate machining but the programmer and other technician are on vocation, Li Ben asked for a try so under the suspicious observation, this young worker made the program exactly according to the drawing, prepared the tools, finished the work in no time. After test all the products are up to the standard. Therefore, the German company pays him extra to train the new worker.

Li Ben now has solved 55 products issues, own 40 patents including 19 invention patents and become the name card of Shanghai Electrical Hydraulic Pneumatic Co. Ltd. Many contracts has the term to use him as the chief technician of the production.

One article by Oliver Haiqing Hua:
Those poor thieves
According to the news from Chinese News Online dated August 26th.in order for her baby to be able to have the high grade formula milk power, one Chinese young mother steal from the stores
70 times in 9 months, and police has already released her on bail and sent her to take her baby in her home.

Another thief is also about the poverty, one peasant worker from a village near Ningbo, when his child need RMB10,000.00 in order to continue his high school, the father find that the whole family has only 7,000.00 in the bank which was they accumulated over the past many years.

In order to allow his only child to have the education, he decided to take his colleague's bank card to withdraw the rest 3,000.00, and left the rest of the 6,000.00 intact. The procurator organ decided not to arrest him when he promise to return the money as soon as he got paid by his employer.

One supermarket find one pregnant woman who needs some nutrition so she steals 1 kg of pork, and put it into her crotch, her sister-in-law took a pair of shoes because her only shoes has some holes on them, their mother doesn't have the cloth for change in the summer, so she took one pair of short sleeve plaid shirt. Police gave the penalty to them, but because the pregnant woman is really expecting a baby so she got exempt from this punishment.

Xu Cai steal four boxes of hypertension drugs because he told the police that he doesn't have money to buy them for his sick father when he was arrested, and we all know it needs continuous medical treatment for hypertension patients, or they would risk their life if there is lack of medicine.

Actually, when I was doing my morning walk in a park near my department, one secrete police approached me and saying that, the thieve actually is one traditional profession with a history as long as the civilization itself when human being has the concept of private ownership, which I agreed 100%.

I know this doesn't justify the action because thief does harm other people, damage the society, leave everybody a scenes of uncertainty, insecurity. Our world became a place of worries and precaution.

However, when I read those thief cases, especially the reasons behind the actions, I really give this a second thought, are we really justifying?

Justice should be given to people so that they can have the power to feed their children, to care after their senile parents, to get enough nutrition on a daily base, as well as have a second pair of shoes with no extra holes on them, or some summer shirts to change and wash, as well as the clean water to drink, the fresher rice without worm in it.

I would thanks for the police letting the woman in lactation to go home feed her baby, thanks to the prosecutor to exempt the pregnant woman from the punishment, to exempt the father to allow him to work repaying the property he stolen from his co-worker. I don't know what happen to the dutiful son, but I would thanks for all the kind consideration when the judge make the final sentences.

Having thanks so much to the people in charge, in governance, I would have to ask one tiny question: what if we have all the nutritious meal on the plate for the young babies, the free education for those who really appreciate the educational opportunity, the basic clothes, shoes for those who don't have, or who only have one set of them with so many holes on them and you can smell them from a very very distance, and the availability of necessary medication for those in need?

I really hope the thief will disappear after so much long and hard civilization as a profession, or as a crime. I really hope we are only talking about it as historic events, not a reality, but when I am going on the Internet, or open the newspaper, or talk to the people, I always find the history is not past, the reality is far from a nice dream, if it is not a nightmare.
